Paula Scher
I am researching Paula Scher, she is graphic designer and she is well known for her typography. She works at Pentagram Design in New York, they are a graphic design from. The company is made up of the best graphic designers. Her work can be seen at the public theatre in New York, she has changed their logo 3 times in the time she has worked with them. Paula used to paint her work, her work included painting different types of typography. Typography Is the art and technique of arranging type to. make written language legible, readable and appealing when displayed.(Source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typography). The job of a typographer is to create the typeface that graphically reflects the brands story.(Source:https://www.graphicdesigndegreehub.com/faq/what-does-a-typographer-do/). Below you will be able to the documentary that I followed when researching Paula Scher. (Source:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCfBYE97rFk)What I like about her work is that she aims to differentiate her self from fellow typographers in New York. Almost all the work is different yet similar. The type of typography is similar but the whole idea of each project is different. What I like is that she went from painting all her work to being able to use different softwares to create new typography. She is a very inspirational women.
Below you will be able to see an example of her work, the work that Paula has produced is the area and time zones for the whole entire map of America. Firstly, I dislike the fact that all the text is clustered together. But saying that, that is type of work that she produces. In the documentary she displays all the work that she has completed relating to this example below. People seemed to be in love with it, I think people were so in love with it due to it being in your face and seeing something like this really makes you want to look at it deeper. To really understand it I think you do need to look deeper so in a way Paula has produced something that people would be need to look at it for a really long time, therefore showing people that her work is more to the eye than you think. If I was the creator of this work I would think about making the display larger, therefore allowing more room and make the text not loos so grouped together as that is the only problem that I see with it.
