What are interactive Posters?

Interactive posters use web-links, animations and videos to enable the audience to access further information regarding the chosen poster topic. A way a poster can be made interactive is by using QR codes, with the QR code it gives you so much freedom. This means that you could create a QR code that re-directs someone to anything you could possible think of. For example if you was doing an advertisement poster about car insurance you would include a QR code that takes the viewer straight to that companies website. We all enjoy a crossword, this form of poster actually goes under an interactive poster. Without even releasing you are interacting with that piece of paper. Interactive posters are more effective than normal printed posters because with an interactive you are interacting with people, this means that when someone views a poster instead of them being able to do nothing to it by using an interactive format that viewer is able to find out a lot more about that poster. Like i mentioned earlier about the car insurance poster, by using an interactive format that viewer can almost instantly find out more information about that chosen company. There is only a small about of things you can fit on a normal A4 poster imagine what you can do when you turn that poster interactive.

Design Process

To start the design process i wanted to make something fitting to the events that are happening around us at the moment. I know that Halloween was a long time ago but out door cinemas might be the next best thing. One of the companies that i found doing out door cinemas were backyard cinema. So i decided to create a Halloween inspired theme and turn it into a movie poster. So i started off with adding the main focus point and this was the face you can see on the lower right o the document. I found that this image has all the main horror characters so i thought it would be best to add this particular image into the document. Another feature i decided to use was using a grey scale, keep everything to the bare minimal in the colour aspect then when it came to using the companies logo i will be able to make that pop and allow viewers to tell what the poster belongs too. The final feature i add to this portion of the design process was the moon, everything horror happens at night so what best to portray that by adding a moon to the poster. Overall i am happy with the poster and if i was to do this again i would consider adding some mist over the moon to give the poster that bit more of a scary feel.

After finishing off those features to the poster it was time to add some more, no Scary poster is complete without some bats flying about the place. Finding the right placement was quite tricky on this part because i didn't want them to clash with any of the other features that i have already added and also am going to add in the future. Another thing i was concerned about was placing it over other features or not, so my main focus was finding the right location and also finding the right layer to place it on. After finding the right placement it was time to add a main title to this poster. I couldn't go for no other than Halloween, this clearly shows what the poster is displaying and also adds a creepy factor to it. It has done that by using a funky font only typically used when needed for a Halloween styled theme. After looking at the poster for a while some problems started to show. This was due to the main title being added i believed. In some areas of the title it was hard to see due to the darkness of original features. So i was very lucky that opacity is an option, the bats and moons opacity was turned down so that the title was more visible. Once the opacity was turned down on both the problem was resolved. But there is still one thing missing and that is the main company logo and also a QR code. This is where the interactive aspect comes into play. Overall i was happy that the problem was resolved when it was but still i find the Halloween text a bit hard to read so if i was to do this again that would be my main goal. Try and find the right balance between all the features.

This is the final step in the design process, in this step i added the main company logo and also a QR code. To start with i found the companies logo and added it to the document. I found that there was a blank space located on the bottom left of the poster and thought that is going to perfect to place the logo in. This is the step that makes it clear why i decided to add a grey scale to the design. By using the grey scale it helps make the companies logo pop out of the page and also draw direct eye contact to the design. The QR code was added to make the poster interactive and also help the viewers find out more information regarding the company. It will also help the viewers find new films and venues. Maybe its their first time going out to a out door cinema and they need more information regarding the event. So by looking at the poster and scanning the QR code they are getting all the information they need straight form that little feature. I used https://www.qr-code-generator.com/ this website to create the QR code. I found the website really easy to use as this wasn't my first time adding a QR code to a piece of my work. After looking at the poster being complete i have to say how happy i am with it, due to the grey scale being used it really identifies the companies logo. If I was to change anything regarding the poster it would be the QR code shell. I think that it needs to tie in with the theme of the poster, so maybe i could add some cobwebs surrounding it, therefore it is helping tie in the feature.
