Why is font important to a brand? What a Serif and San Serif font is? Favourite one?

Like a logo, the style of font that I will use for my brand, will help the brand be recognisable by the target audience. There are two types of fonts that I could use, these include Serif and San Serif fonts. These are the two types of fonts that designers, journalists and magazines use to simply appeal to certain audiences. Serif fonts tends to be decorative fonts, mainly including flicks and additional lines on the edges of fonts and San Serif fonts are fonts that are straight, simple and easy to replicate styles. Serif fonts are mainly used when it comes to high level brands, such as Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton, whereas San Serif fonts are mainly used for modern and general brands, for example Jeep, Microsoft and Panasonic. Out of the two I prefer San Serif Fonts, this is because I want my brand to be modern and be accessible by everyone. My main aspect of the logo is the shoe surrounding the text, even though this is the most important aspect. I can't forget the font, the font has a meaning and the meaning I want behind my font is that the brand is  modern and  easily distinguished from surrounding brands. I want someone to be able to appreciate the font I have used and know the meaning behind it. With my logo I don't want it just to be a logo, I want it to have a meaning and story. Therefore showing users that the brand is not ordinary, it shows that the brand cares about the users story and how any person can visit the brand no matter what background. It appeals it everyone.

I shot the serif

I shot the serif is a game that you can play to boost your knowledge of identifying serifs. I have recently just played this game and I received a high score of 274, I don't know if this is good but for my first go I feel like I accomplished quite a good score. I played this game so that I would be able to depict a serif from a a san serif. In the game you are given about 25 letters and half of these letters are serifs, so once you feel like you have found the serif you click on that serif and it awards you with points. The more and more you play the more and more it gets addicting. As well as playing a game it is also boosting your knowledge, which isn't always a bad thing. After timing out on the game I feel like I would be able tp pick a serif out of a group of letters easily. This all helps when it comes to choosing what font I want to use for my logo.

Choosing a font for my own brand

Choosing a font is one of the hardest stages I find, this is because I find it hard to settle on font due to the amount available now it is hard to choose one that I will stick with throughout my designing time. But after looking at quite a few fonts I have chosen to go with is PT Sans Caption, I stumbled across this font when doing some design work on Adobe Photo-shop. I feel that the font stands out, this might be to the boldness of it. Using a font that is bold enables the text to stand out. Another feature of the font I like is that it is different I don't think many people use this type of font, although It looks similar to quite a few fonts on the font list in adobe Photo-shop, the font is different, even if it is only slight the font completes another story of the logo. Below you will see an image, the image shows what the font is like on all letters and number in the alphabet.
